Tomorrow there will be a soundcheck for the finalists listed above at the Heritage Theatre. You will have time to run through your performance twice, just twice please. Please be kind to the Heritage Theatre staff and be on time, IF YOU ARE NOT ON TIME FOR WHATEVER REASON, I WILL ASSUME YOU DO NOT WISH TO DO A SOUNDCHECK AND YOU WILL NOT RECIEVE A DIFFERENT TIME SLOT--NO EXCEPTIONS. Ok...heres a little detail. There will be a $50 winner of each category, the city wants the winners to perform at the Family Of The Year following the talent competition at 7 pm. However, they don't want to announce the $500 grand overall winner till the end, so all finalists need to be to the family of the year competition, if your name is called to perform during the presentation you are the $50 winner of your category and are eligible for the $500 grand prize that will be announced at the end. SO....after the finals, go get something to eat and be back ready to possibly perform at 7 pm. The winners of the categories will perform through out, there will be 5 total, Infant, Child, Teen, Adult, and Family category winners. That means only 5 finalists will perform at the Family of the Year presentation that begins at 7, unfortunately you won't know until your name is called right then and there. Tentative Audition Schedule
This is the audition schedule, if you have a problem with your time slot and have a legitimate reason, I will do what I can to accomodate. I will post a final one Thursday night. Please remember to come no less than 5 min early, no more than 10 min early. I will post Audition times by 10 pm. Anyone who enters after will just have to be at the end of the list and I'll post a final list thursday night. Auditions will be:
-Friday starting at 5 pm (remember everyone has their personal time slot, (arrive no later than 5 min before, no earlier than 10 before)
-AT GRAVITY DANCE CENTER LOCATED AT 423 W COAL CREEK RD. If you take main street to coal creek and theres only one way you can turn, but if you're coming from fiddlers area you'll be turning right, if you're coming from sizzlers you'll be turning left. It will be on your left right off Coal Creek. If you have any problems finding it, let me know. I will have my phone on me 691-4014.
-MAKE SURE TO BRING A SIGNED COPY OF THE ENTRY FORM. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU DO NOT BRING A SIGNED COPY
-If you have not gotten a backing track to me, I need that in my hands NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, AUGUST 23 BY 10 AM. This is way later than I ever intended to allow, but there have been some circumstances and if I allow one, I have to allow everyone to turn it in late. However, if I do not have it in my hands or in my email box by THURSDAY, AUGUST 23 BY 10 AM be aware that you may not be eligible to compete. DO NOT FORGET THAT YOUR PERFORMANCE WILL BE TIMED, WHETHER WITH OR WITHOUT BACKING TRACK AND IF YOUR TALENT EXCEEDS 2 MIN THE JUDGES WILL BE NOTIFIED AND YOU MAY BE INELIGIBLE TO WIN. I would highly suggest those playing a live instrument to practice it timed as many times as possible so you are confident in it being under the allowed time, sometimes when you get nervous it can speed you up or slow you down. If you have any questions or concerns about anything, please don't hesititate to contact me. You're welcome to call me anytime before 9 pm. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

OK...I'm getting closer to putting stuff together and organizing the audition list. IT IS NOT TOO LATE, I WILL TAKE ENTRIES AS LATE AS WENDESDAY, AUGUST 22 -If you are planning to participate and you DON'T see your name below, please let me know.
-If your name has a YELLOW box somewhere beside it, I am missing one or more items from you and if you are planning on participating, I need those ASAP. Don't worry about the black boxes, thats just to protect your personal information from the internet :)
-If you or your child is planning to participate in one or more categories (singing a solo and also in a group-two different acts) and you DON'T see your name twice contact me.
-For those who have no backing track, (playing a live instrument), please time your piece and be aware that if it GOES OVER 2 MIN the judges will be notified and you could be disqualified, there will be someone timing each performance. (Unless you have been approved for more time, so far only one act is).
-DO NOT forget your signed form the day of auditions. You will not be able to participate if I don't have that form.
-After I have all the necessary information, (I will take entries as late as wednesday, August 22), I will post your audition time for friday, August 24th. It will be sometime between 5-7. If you have a conflict please contact me, (Right now I know of Marissa needing special arrangements).

I have had some emails and phone calls of people interested, but this is who I am for sure planning on so far. You don't need to give me your entry form until the day of the auditions on August 24, but I need your basic information and what you are planning to perform so that I know what to plan for and make sure we don't have music duplicates.

Cedars Got Talent 2012
I'm so excited that last year was enough of a success that even though I hadn't officially started the process of organizing this years competition that I've been getting calls of people who are interested in participating this year. Thats really awesome and it reflects on the calibur of talent that we have to offer here.
My goal is to update and finish the forms so that you will be able to begin preparing today and tomorrow, but I wanted to write a post so that you know a few important details while trying to decide whether to participate or not. There are a few changes from last year and I think that it will be even better.
Last year we had 4 categories, Children, Teen, Adult, and Family. This year, we will have 5 categories. I will be splitting up the children's category because I realized last year that there is a pretty big difference between a 5 year old and an 11 year old which makes it unfair to be competing against each other. So the ages this year will be:
Toddler's 0-7
The dates for this year's competition will be Friday and Saturday, August 24-25 and will be held at the Heritage Theatre!! The committee and I felt that it needs to be on a proper stage in order to be more fair AND because of the INCREDIBLY turn out in talent, we get the royal treatment!!! Because of the overwhelming amount of participants last year was a little chaotic and I barely pulled it off in one day time wise. I really wasn't expecting the turn out that we had, LOVED the turn out, but wasn't expecting it. This year because of the incredible response and turn out, the Family Festival has asked us to have the finalists compete during the Family of the Year presentation and the winner will be announced after. Which means, friday we will have auditions and only the finalists will perform Saturday night, similar to last year except I'm not going to attempt it in one day like last year and there won't be as many finalists coming back for the final competition in order to accomodate time. Lets be honest, no one wants to sit there for more than 1-2 hours and with us meshing with the Family of the Year, it will cut into the time that will be allowed. I don't know exactly how many finalists will come back but there will be less than last year, I'm sorry.
I am going to be more strict this year on deadlines. Please pay attention to when your music is due, time guidelines, and rules and regulations.
