One Last Post...

I just wanted to thank everyone.  The judges literally BEGGED me to allow just a few more in to the final show, they were blown away with the talent that little Cedar City had to offer.  If you knew how close a lot of you were to going on to the finals, or winning the category at the finals, you would be amazed.  I wish I could sit down with each and every one of you and show you exactly how you did because unfortunately, when you can only see who won the category...you end up walking away feeling like you either came in 1st place or dead last and that is not the case, especially with this particular situation it was not the case.  Some of you were literally within just a point, you have no idea how great you did.  Feel welcome to contact me with any questions, please PLEASE consider trying again next year, I hope to make this an annual thing and I would love to help you do better and improve.  I talked to the judges and one in particular was having the hardest time not giving all of you feedback, I wished we would've had the time.  However, I do know what they thought, what they liked, what you maybe could improv on.  Some of you, the talent was neck and neck, and it just came down to who connected with them and the audience.  Please come try again next year.  Please.  It was a fantastic turnout, the hightlight of the festival by a long shot and you all left me so proud.  You all made me look awesome :)  Thanks again.

CEDARS GOT TALENT AUDITIONS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION, WE ARE NOW GOING TO BE HOLDING THEM AT GRAVITY DANCE CENTER LOCATED AT 423 W COAL CREEK RD.  If you take main street to coal creek and theres only one way you can turn, but if you're coming from fiddlers area you'll be turning right, if you're coming from sizzlers you'll be turning left.  It will be on your left right off Coal Creek.  If you have any problems finding it, let me know.  I will have my phone on me 691-4014.  I apologize for the inconenience.  If you think that freaked you out, imagine how I felt last night knowing I had this many people about to show up at the wrong studio and needing to find another location!  A HUGE thanks to the new owner and director of the Gravity Dance Studio, Jenny Williams.

An Update

Just a couple of FYI's:


The city called and asked that whoever wins the grand prize perform on Saturday, August 6th at 4 pm. And I think they want you to fill a 30 min set. If any of you CANNOT do this if you won, please let me know so that I can look at the points and see who would be second and have them perform. Thanks!


Also, don't forget that I will be posting audition times on Monday, August 1st.  Originally we were going to hold auditions at the Holiday Inn, we are no longer doing that since there are dancers and cloggers and I felt they needed a fair shot on floor that wasn't carpetted.  So it will now be held at Onstage Dance Studio, located at 599 N 800 W #1.  If you were to take the road between Taco Bell and Maverick (800 W) head north, go over the railroad tracks and pass the stop sign, it'll be on your left.  Right after Industrial Road, a little west of the old IFA.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Otherwise, you need to be there no later than 5 minutes BEFORE your audition time, but no earlier than 10 minutes either please.  I know that sounds odd, but we have limitted waiting area space.  If you would like to be there earlier than you're welcome to wait outside of the studio.  It probably seems a bit particular, but this way you won't be at the auditions all day, you can just come for your designated time slot.  I will post on the blog all the names that made it through to the final competition for the public after the auditions are over, I am not entirely sure what time yet but I should have an idea of when on monday.  It will be strictly based on a point system,  5-7 contestants from each category with the highest points go on.  The judges won't even be aware of who will be actually performing that night, they won't be choosing names, they will just be scoring you.  I wanted to make sure that this entire process was 100% fair.  The judges are from out of town so there should not be an issue of favoring or anything like that.


Again, you are welcome to contact me at anytime if you have any questions or concerns.  Otherwise, I will plan on seeing everyone at the auditions.  I am so excited to see the outcome and watch all the talents I've been filling out forms for. I appreciate everyone's willingness to put yourselves out there.  I had NO idea I'd have this kind of response, I figured I'd be begging people to participate instead of sending people away.  I am so glad that it is successful and I appreciate your support. 

Cedar's Got Talent Updates

This is a list of participants that I have so far...if you are not on this list and have already turned in the necessary forms, please let me know.  I got a lot of forms in a short amount of time and it wouldn't be impossible for me to have made a mistake.  I'd say the odds are pretty good :)  Also IF YOUR NAME IS HIGHLIGHTED IN BLUE WITH ** YOU NEED TO CONTACT ME AND/ OR GET ME A MINUS TRACK IF YOU STILL INTEND ON PARTICIPATING.  I am so excited about the response we've gotten this year, We have vocalists, dancers (one of them being 80 yrs young, how awesome is that?!), MAGICIANS, and musicians.  I can't wait!  As soon as I have a final count on participants, I will post an audition time for the 5th.  Please be aware that if you have not gotten a actual signed copy (sorry for those that went the extra mile and emailed a copy of it signed, I need the actual paper in my hands signed), of the entry form or you do not bring it with you at the time of the audition that you are ineligible to participate.  ALSO AN FYI THAT IF YOU ARE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YOU NEED TO HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN SIGN IT, SO IF YOU HAVE ALREADY TURNED A SIGNED COPY INTO ME AND YOU FALL UNDER THOSE LINES, PLEASE RESUBMIT ONE OR BRING ANOTHER WITH YOU WHEN YOU COME TO AUDITION.

COME AUDITION!!

Come audition for "Cedar's Got Talent" and potentially win Grand Prize of $500!! All ages welcome! Auditions will be held the morning of the competition which will be friday, August 5, 2011. Performer's will compete in their age group (Children 0-12, Teen Category 13-19, Adult Category 20 on up, and a Family Category in the even that two or more performers fall under two or more other categories) Winners of the preliminary audition will go on to compete that night for the city at 5 pm in the park where they will have the chance to win the Grand Prize. There will be a $50 prize for the winner of each age division and a $500 overall grand prize winner.
